Seafood Extravaganza at Novotel Hyderabad Airport

Spotting good seafood in restaurants across the twin cities can often be challenging, but Fridays are shaping up to be a good day for seafood lovers. During the summers, Taj Vivanta introduced seafood Friday lunch buffets. Now, Novotel Hyderabad Airport has announced a seafood extravaganza for The Square Friday dinner buffets. And, when I mean extravaganza, I ain’t really exaggerating.

I was invited to a blogger’s table and the quantity and quality of seafood on offer made me quite estatic. If you’re someone who enjoys Cold Cuts then there are oysters, mussels, prawns and more at the Salads counter to get you started. After that you can move onto the Seafood Tokdi (Basket) that’s loaded with crispy fried calamari and prawns, Tandoori Pomfret, Seafood Dim Sum, and Bamboo Prawns. As much as I enjoyed munching on the crispy calamaries, my favourite appetiser was the glistening steak of King Fish. There is also a live grills counter offering a whole host of seafood in your choice of sauces. I loved the Calamari in a butter garlic sauce and crunchy Anchovy.

The main course spread is also peppered with seafood signatures. The winner here for me was the spicy Goan Crab Curry, but the other dishes also fared well. Patrani Machhi – a Parsi specialty in which fish is marinated and steamed inside a banana leaf wrap, was tender and delicious. The steamed Thai Styled Fish and Red Snapper with Tomato, Olive and Onion were also noteworthy.

The Seafood Fest will be on every Friday at The Square between 7:30 PM and 11:30 PM. The Square buffet is priced at Rs. 1849 (plus taxes).
